The article reports that representatives of pharmaceutical manufacturers, health care providers, and the federal government met on November 5, 2010, in Bethesda, Maryland, to discuss the ongoing shortages of drug products. At the event, Burgunda V. Sweet, director of the Drug Information Service at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, said that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approves a specific manufacturing line for a specific drug at a specific site.
