ABSTRACT
Information about several reports discussed at a conference in Brussels, Belgium on global trade and animal welfare is presented. The event examined the dynamics of welfare issues in trade, focusing on the debate between private and public standards. A proposal on the protection of animals used in scientific experiments has also been discussed. The European Commission allotted more time on animal disease and raised suggestions to improve the proactive management of emerging animal diseases.
