ABSTRACT
The article discusses the highlights of a 2009 Conference field trip to Nick Head's Station in the Gisborne region of New Zealand. The 1,350 hectare owned by New York businessman John Griffin is being managed by Kim Dodgshun. According to the author, the 300 farm foresters who visited the property gave mixed reaction. She describes the property as an active landscape and features sheep and beef farming, wetland development, seed maize, retired bush remnants and eroding slopes.
