The article discusses the highlights of a forum at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas on October 28, 2008. The report "Blueprint for American Prosperity" issued by the Brookings Institution in July 2008 which called for the federal government to play a larger policy-setting role in five Western states, including Nevada, on a number of issues was discussed during the event. Other topics that were accounted at the forum were the lack of a broader federal transportation plan and sources of water for Nevada and the arid West.
