The article discusses the highlights of the 1983 Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) conference held at Asilomar, California in June 1983. Several presentations were introduced including the history of U.S. metalsmithing, a lecture on training, and a slide show on photo etching. There were also panel discussions titled "Professionalism for the Artist-Designer," "Platinum Basics," and "Plastics for Casting Models." An opening gathering was also held for the exhibition "California Metal Arts in the 80's: Current Directions."
