Strong evidence supported average glucose measurement vs. HbA1c

Information about the topics discussed at the ADA 67th Annual Scientific Sessions held in San Francisco, California in February 1-3, 2008 is presented. The session made a comparison between glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and average glucose which are both used to measure an individual's glucose content. According to doctor Richard A. Kahn, chief scientific and medical officer of American Diabetes Association (ADA), average method is much more specific compared to HbA1c. The advantages and disadvantages of two methods are listed.
