ABSTRACT
The article discusses the changing condition of the global steel industry during a joint session of the Metals Service Center Institute/American Iron and Steel Institute annual meetings in Boca Raton, Florida on May 8, 2006. The global metals industry consolidation still has a long way to go. Consolidation in the industry among producers and distributors is accelerating. The service center sector is still a fragmented industry while mill consolidation is ongoing around the world.
