ABSTRACT
The article presents information related to the 25th Sundance Film Festival 2005, which took place in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the film festival, several regional movies were screened in the regular festival program, including world premieres. This festival is an example of the dramatic evolution of Native American filmmaking and filmmakers. Such occasions prove the Americans' continued commitment to the improvement of and exhibition of the art of film making. The films that are screened at the festival include: A Thousand Roads, the World, Tampa BTU, to name only a few. The film "A Thousand Roads" was commissioned by the National Museum of the America Indian. The film "the World" is about the story of a man and a woman who started a historical journey from the city where they dwell. According to the author, the couple inadequate knowledge about who they are, ultimately determines their lives in this modern-day tragedy. A special presentation titled "Trudell," directed by Heather Rae and Western Cherokee, was also screened during the film festival.
