ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S.-Egypt Friendship Society convened a panel in Washington D.C. on March 8, 2005 on energy in North Africa. With the petroleum sector and emerging markets popular subjects these days, over 60 people attended the convention. Panelists presented a positive message, ranging from new markets to the region's pursuit of alternative fuels. Regional governments are determined to broaden and secure alternate energy sources, while continuing development and exploration of gas and oil, and earlier investments in electrical power are now paying off.
