ABSTRACT
For the first time in its 40-year history, the Eugene O' Neill Theater Center will host its annual playwrights and music theater conferences at the same time on July 4-31, 2004 in the U.S., a move that restores both programs to four weeks, up from two weeks in recent years. J. Ranelli, the O' Neill's newly installed artistic director said that the conferences make fiscal sense for the organization as well as for the participants. The aim to run both conferences simultaneously is about sharing artistic resources. Ranelli asserts that perhaps more important is the mix of playwrights, composers and lyricists exchanging views together and for a longer period of time.
