ABSTRACT
This article looks at the 2002 Financial Executives Institute summit program, held in April 2002. The keynote address,"The New Era Under Attack," was delivered by Brian Wesbury, chief economist at Griffin, Kubik, Stephens, and Thomas. Former chief executive officer (CEO) of General Electric Co. Jack Welch was interviewed by New York Bureau Chief for the "Financial Times" Andrew Hill. Welch discussed the need for self-confidence among CEOs and the effects of Enron Corp.'s folding.
