Varig, Brazil's debt-laden airline, has begun a restructuring plan under Brazil's newly adopted bankruptcy law, which gives Varig 60 days to present a plan and four months to negotiate it with its creditors. The restructuring plan will require a 51% creditor approval, or the airline will be declared bankrupt. Three of the largest U.S. defense contractors ore competing for a contract for National Aeronautics and Space Administration's next generation space vehicle, the Crew Exploration Vehicle, or CEV, set to go into service after the Shuttles are retired in 2010.
