The section presents statistics related to underwriting by security type. The data is provided by Thomson Financial Inc. and it measures public and rule 144A deals only. It compares the data of various U.S. companies for the period of January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005 with the period of January 1, 2004 and June 30, 2004. They do not include medium-term note programs or private placements. Issues from shelf registrations are included in the total new issues figures. For multi-tranche offerings, the offering is counted as the sum of its tranches.
