The article focuses on the reporting of complications associated with fixed dental prostheses and proposes altering documentation of complications. It states that complications impact the perceived value patients derive from their prostheses and incur significant monetary costs. It recommends that data on different restoration methods and materials should be collated retrospectively and should allow for comparisons that includes projected or actual survival data and clinical experiences.
