ABSTRACT
The article comments on how the possible huge build-up in alternative energy capacity in the Middle East will offer a much-needed growth to the renewables energy. It cites a report by "Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) Insight" which claims that around 37,400 megawatt (MW) of capacity will have to be added over the next seven years, with cost amounting to 190 billion dollars, if the challenging targets for renewable energy set by governments across the region by 2020 are to be satisfied.
