The author reflects on the difficulties facing women who attempt to balance their career development with a home life. Based on her experience in the hospitality industry, the author notes that many people recruit and promote employees similar to themselves which presents a challenge to women due to the low population of female executives. She suggests that businesses offer more career development services for women such as mentoring programs.
