ABSTRACT
The author looks at the January 2013 Israeli election, focusing on the Yesh Atid party led by Yair Lapid. She notes the party won an unexpectedly large number of parliamentary seats and says it is joining in the coalition of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. She criticizes Lapid for his policies on both peace negotiations with the Palestinians and domestic economic issues, saying they are similar to Netanyahu's right-wing policies, despite Lapid's image as a moderate.
