ABSTRACT
The article shares some lessons from history which U.S. senators John Kerry and Rob Portman can learn in relation to their vice-presidential debates. Preparation for the debates really matters, as in the case of president Gerald Ford who seriously prepared against Jimmy Carter. The answers to questions should have real-world sense, illustrating again the case of Ford whose answer to a question has hurt his campaign.
