ABSTRACT
The author stresses the importance of diversification as a business strategy for fishing operators, noting that reliance on a single product often leaves businesses vulnerable to market hiccups. He also hails the transformation of Australia's South East Trawl Fishing Association (SETFIA) from a conflict-ridden body to an environmentally-responsible group, and criticizes Sydney Water for unilaterally deciding to increase the level of nutrients discharged from the Brooklyn sewage treatment works.
