ABSTRACT
The author talks about pharmacy benefit management companies (PBM) in the U.S. as it criticizes the proposed merger of Express Scripts and Medco Health Solutions as of November 28, 2011. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Subcommittee announced plans to investigate the deal as both companies are reportedly two of the U.S.' largest PBMs. It explains why the deal would adversely impact healthcare access and affordability.
