ABSTRACT
The author discusses a study by R. T. Saccilotto and colleagues which investigated a prediction rule for syncope. He says that the systematic reviews and meta-analyses used in the study are powerful evaluation tools. However, he notes that much of the proof from the study is hard to assess due to the study design's heterogeneity and the application of serious outcomes and short-term mortality as alternatives for the specificity and sensitivity of the prediction rules.
