ABSTRACT
The author discusses the need for the public-safety communications sector to increase its understanding of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) capabilities for traditional narrowband and commercial broadband solutions. He notes that LTE can provide actionable communications by enabling first responders with detailed data and situational intelligence over secure mobile broadband networks. The author cites key elements for public safety LTE network including equipment that meets technology and public safety standards, and reasonable long-term funding.
