ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses the role of insulin resistance on various body tissues. He mentions that insulin resistance play an important role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes wherein it increases risk of acquiring metabolic abnormalities and adverse clinical outcomes. He notes that insulin resistance in adipose and muscle tissue increases plasma insulin and free fatty acid concentrations initiating a metabolic events that could lead in highly atherogenic lipoprotein profile.
