ABSTRACT
In the article the authors discuss the role of pharmacists and their readiness in disaster and emergency response. They state that defining a pharmacist responder's role can provide the framework for the Incident Command System and assist implementation of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The authors suggest that providing training programs and force-management guidelines can help pharmacists acquire the specialized skills for participating in disaster-relief efforts.
