ABSTRACT
The author counters the move of the Republicans in the U.S. House to repeal the healthcare reform law. He realizes that the expansion of Medicare under the bill was not pursued because the U.S. government failed to act in accordance with its own core beliefs even if Republicans may experience difficulty in attacking Medicare. He thinks that the practice of allowing insurance company profits to increase regardless of the impact on patients remains unchanged as healthcare continues to consume more of the country's gross domestic product.
