ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses aspects of the past, present, and future of the Art Libraries Society (ARLIS) in Great Britain and Ireland. He is critical that ARLIS is currently facing a risk on its membership base which is possibly diminishing because of the threat to the subject librarian role and to the uncertainty on the future of some art collections. Also investigated are the publications and education programmes of ARLIS that offers a rich framework for sharing the best practice.
