ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses the dual role of preceptee and preceptor played by the pharmacy students serving as residents. The guidelines for preceptors involved in the training of pharmacy residents are being developed by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). The pharmacists are the primary preceptors of pharmacy residents during their training period. The author says that the opportunity for residents to serve as preceptor continues to grow.
