ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses the job cuts at Comcast Corp. and A&E Television Networks and closure of a 600-employee call center Dish Network Corp. in 2009 in the U.S. The author claims that stocks increased on profit gains from cost reductions, but national jobless rate was 10.2%. However, he says that cable and satellite companies were stable employers.
