ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses aspects of nursing and the pressure of being a newly assigned nurse. She acknowledges the feelings of an experienced nursing staff which has had to relinquish free time to help adequately cover other shifts and the optimism felt when a new nurse arrives. She advises experienced nurses to reflect on the full weight of responsibility facing new nurses and the effect it has on their ability to be effective in the absence of a support
