The article explores the author's views on changing customers' need in the mortgage market. He cites a research conducted by the Building Societies Association which revealed that due to fast changing customers' needs, lenders must develop products that will meet a new-look market. The author highlights the increasing number of individuals who prefer living alone which can be addressed by offering products that are within the limit of a single salary. He adds that self-employment is another trend that poses challenge to create mortgage models.
