ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's perspectives on a two randomized trials which determine the clinical benefits of interleukin (IL)-2 for HIV-infected patients. He remarks that the primary endpoints of both studies were the occurrence of opportunistic disease or death. He asserts that there was no benefit of IL-2 in either study, despite the observed significant number of CD4 cell count in the IL-2 arms.
