ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses the issues surrounding the Mexico-American Border Region. He refers to poverty as the main concern, saying that the poorest people in the U.S. reside in the Texas and New Mexico borderlands. He is critical that federal troops, drug cartels, and multi-billion-dollars fences will lead to border lore if poverty is addressed. He mentions that Mexicans are not only targeted for immigration status and drug wars, but also for the invasion of swine flu.
