Teaching Respect at Maimonides Medical Center

In this article, the author discusses the importance of teamwork and respect in hospital environment to patient safety and healthcare quality. Being an executive at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York City, the author noted the importance of understanding the ultimate goal of the hospital staff which is to take care of patients. From the disrespectful behavior of staffs the author was introduced to, the Maimonides has become a supportive work environment.
