ABSTRACT
In this article the author reflects on the potential implications of the continuing difficult business conditions of the automobile industry of the U.S. on the laser industry as of June 2009. He worries for companies which are badly affected by the downturn of the automobile industry, particularly those companies who are customers for laser and laser-related products. He notes that these companies are the main users for lasers as they supply the components for original equipment manufacturers.
