ABSTRACT
The article presents author's views on India's ranking in the Tax Misery and Reform Index of the "Forbes Asia," journal. It states that India's ranking has declined sharply in the index inspite of 15 years of tax reforms. It informs that India's Misery Index has seen the sharpest increase due to the increased social security contributions that the government expects new bureaucrats to make.
