ABSTRACT
In this article the authors discuss the need for leaders with education in humanistic studies in the U.S. Navy, as specified by J. Shuford in a report published in the April 2009 issue. Agreeing with Shuford's views, David R. Lyon gives the example of his son who was turned down in the U.S. Navy as he did not have a technical degree. G. Bruce Greer says that after working in various executive positions in several industries, he cannot say good things about his naval experiences and training.
