ABSTRACT
The author reflects on Poseidon Resources' proposed construction of a desalination plant in Carlsbad, California. He claims that, despite the energy usage and harmful effects of desalination process on fish, the plant can help address the West's water crisis. He adds that the desalination plant will be powered by solar panels. He discusses the opposition of environmental groups such as the Surfrider Foundation to the plant, and suggests that they focus attention on more important crises.
