A literary criticism of the books "Life on Mars" by Tracy K. Smith and "Engine Empire" by Cathy Park Hong is presented. It states that "Life on Mars" gives a sensitive account of American life and discusses the use of symbols and counterfacts in it. It mentions that "Engine Empire" reflects on how inhuman the world has become and its poems show constraints on will of human beings.
