ABSTRACT
A literary criticism of four Mexican science fiction stories including "Llamaradas para fechas vacías" by Paco Ignacio Taibo II and the novel "La destrucción de todas las cosas" by Hugo Hiriart is presented. It examines the concept of apocalypse in the said write-ups, which originated in Judeo-Christian mythology. It is the author's view that the authors based their tales in the Mexican social and political reality to convey warnings about possible disasters.
