ABSTRACT
A literary criticism of the book "Historia del rey transparente" by Rosa Montero is presented. Particular focus is given to the presence of the Middle Ages, as it is noted that "Historia del rey transparente" takes place in twelfth and thirteenth century Spain. The author describes the strength and endurance of Montero's female protagonists, giving a retrospective of much of her work. Montero's propensity to explore history and legend is also discussed.
