ABSTRACT
This article examines the work "Historiettes" from Gédéon Tallemant des Réaux. The author provides a brief biography of Tallemant des Réaux and discusses the circumstances surrounding the writing of the "Historiettes." It is argued that no historian or editor of his work has given enough thought to the composition and evolution of the "Historiettes." Reference is frequently made to the work of Louis Jean Nicolas Monmerqué who was Tallemant's first editor.
