ABSTRACT
The article discusses Cristina Peri Rossi's collection of poems entitled "Las musas inquietantes" in relation to the problematization of male observation in the visual arts. The objective of the study is to analyze the role that the female body plays in western imagination. The analysis includes a discussion on a specific painting from French artist Gustave Courbet which represents, in an explicit manner, the female sexual anatomy.
