ABSTRACT
The article argues that more books for children on game hunting are needed. Hunters and hunting is almost universally reviled in contemporarily available children's literature. The most notable anti-hunting book is "Bambi," by Felix Salten. In "First French Kiss and Other Traumas," author Adam Bagdasarian uses hunting as a negative rite of passage. Jane Resh Thomas's "Fox in a Trap" and Mary Casanova's "Moose Tracks" and "Wolf Shadows" understand hunting culture.
