A literary criticism of the postcolonial Caribbean novels "White Teeth," by Zadie Smith and "Small Island," by Andrea Levy is presented. It focuses on the presentation of the language and identity on the writings. Topics include the inclusion of human relationships and intercultural encounters, the exploration of the novels' characters, and the application of the varieties of language which include syntax, morphology, and lexicon.
