ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study on the link between low glomerular filtration rate and mortality rate in diabetics with normoalbuminuric renal impairment. Topics covered include the cohorts of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) examined, the clinical features and hazard ratios for the mortality of T2DM patients, and the conclusion of the study.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to compare the estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) outpatients. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study included 1686 subjects, aged 68±10 years. GFR was evaluated with five different equations: GFRM-DRD186, GFRMDRD175,...

Background In Mexican Americans, the IRS1 G972R polymorphism (rs1801278) has been associated to such a marked reduction in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) (i.e. β = −8.3 mL/min/1.73 m2) to be considered a major determinant of kidney function. Methods This was a cross-sectional study to...

Background: The prevalence of nondiabetic renal disease (NDRD) among type 2 diabetics varies widely depending on the populations being studied and the selection criteria. OBJECTIVE -- Albuminuria can be caused by endothelial dysfunction as a result of ischemic nephropathy rather than classic diabetic nephropathy. We studied whether renal vascular resistance (resistive index [RID of the main renal arteries could be associated with albuminuria and further assessed...

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is prevalent in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is also associated with T2DM. However, little is known about the interaction between these conditions in patients with T2DM. Objective: To examine...

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between serum copeptin and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients and to investigate the role of serum copeptin in the diagnosis of early DN in T2DM patients. Methods: 120 T2DM inpatients were...

High serum adiponectin has been increased in several conditions of kidney disease. Only sparse and conflicting results have been reported in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), a subgroup of individuals who are at high risk for renal dysfunction. The aim of this study was to fill up this gap of...
