ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of a postoperative pancreatic leak or fistula after pancreatoduodenectomy. It notes that aggressive drainage of intra-abdominal fluid collections and adequate nutritional support are the important elements of the treatment of a pancreatic leak. Also cited is that the elimination of the drain and injection of the fistula tract with fibrin glue or fistula tract-enteric anastomosis are the alternatives for treatment of a persistent chronic fistula.
