An interview with Jim Bodony, the fire chief of Volunteer Fire Co. bout buying a fire truck to fit a fire department's budget is presented. His first suggestion is to make a list of features the department wants to include in the vehicle. He says that fire departments should consider entry-level or program cars that have bundled options and no frills. He also suggests consolidating two vehicles into one meets the need for fleet reduction, like combining a rescue truck and a pumper.
