ABSTRACT
An interview with photographer Alexandra Huddleston is presented. She applied for a Fulbright scholarship in Mali, West Africa after she heard about the manuscript libraries in 2004 and decided to spend a year in Timbuktu to learn about the families that the manuscripts have been passed down to. She refers to Timbuktu as a multi-cultural town linked all ethnic groups. She notes that Africa is not all about war and that many countries in Africa have an amazing culture people can learn from.
