ABSTRACT
An interview with Mike VanNieuwkuyk, executive director for global automotive research at JD Power and Associates. When asked about touchscreens' lack of built-in "feel" of knobs and pushbuttons as a hazard for drivers, he explains the feedback feature integrated with touchscreens which confirms the positive execution of a control. He explains the learning curve in using touchscreens in vehicles. He also discusses the need for specialized gloves when using touchscreens.
