ABSTRACT
An interview with Harry Belafonte, a Harlem, New York City-born folksinger and civil rights movement supporter, is presented. Belafonte shares his views on how his Caribbean roots shaped his experience growing up, his travels between New York and Jamaica, and his understanding of race. He also discusses his music career, the polities of music, his work with Martin Luther King, his friendship with Jack and Bobby Kennedy, and the changes in the his Harlem neighborhood.
